frequently asked questions

Q: What are eyelash extensions?
A: Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent eyelash extensions comprised of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. Our lashes are thicker at the base and taper to a fine point. They are applied to individual eyelashes, one extension at a time, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes. Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions are for professional application only.

Q: What are Xtreme Lashes made of?
A: Xtreme Lashes are made of synthetic fibers that provide a natural look and feel. The lashes are curved and sized to look as if they were your own.

Q: Are Xtreme Lashes safe?
A: Xtreme Lashes are applied using a medical grade adhesive formulated with the same ingredient used in sutureless wound procedures. The procedure is pain-free and will not harm your eyelids or natural lashes. Xtreme Lashes are never applied to your eyelids.

Q: How are Xtreme Lashes applied?
A: You will be comfortably reclined with your eyes closed while Xtreme Lashes are applied one at a time to your own natural eyelashes. There is no discomfort or pain involved in the procedure. In fact, most clients find it is so relaxing and comfortable that they fall asleep.

Q: How long do Xtreme Lashes last?
A: A natural eyelash cycle is typically 60-90 days, and we shed about 1-5 natural lashes daily! So to replenish the lashes and maintain the look, it can last indefinitely with refills every 2-4 weeks.

Q: What are the benefits of wearing Xtreme Lashes Eyelash Extensions?
A : Some women or men want to lengthen their natural lashes while others want their lashes to look fuller. A number of people with naturally light colored lashes choose Xtreme Lashes Eyelash Extensions to darken their existing lashes. Still others love the different, fun looks they can achieve with highlighting and layering. It can create a younger appearance, brighter, more open and rested eye, thereby creating a more youthful and rejuvenated look. A lot of time is saved on your beauty regimen because mascara is no longer necessary, eyeliner could be avoided as well because the lash extensions are bigger at the base that creates the effect of any eyeliner, and no more eye makeup removal at the end of the day! The added benefit is that they look beautiful morning and night, all day, every day. Say goodbye to the application of mascara, stained tears and mascara raccoon masks around the eyes. With Xtreme Lashes® Eyelash Extensions you can look and feel gorgeous from the moment you wake up until the moment you fall asleep with little to no effort.

Q: Can I apply mascara to Xtreme Lashes?
A: One of the primary advantages of Xtreme Lashes is that you won’t need mascara. However if you want mascara ask about the Xtreme Lashes mascara made specifically for lash extensions. Do not use waterproof mascara!

Q: How do I prepare for my procedure?
A: Do not curl your lashes, wear any mascara or makeup. Make sure your eyelashes are clean and dry. Be prepared to not get your lashes wet, exposed to moisture or near makeup for the first 3 hours (in some cases 24-48 hours). Plan ahead!

Q: How do I care for Xtreme Lashes?
A: You can enjoy these lashes with little need to adjust your lifestyle. They are resistant to water, sweat, and tears. Swim, shower and exercise worry free. Do not use any make up remover or cleanser containing oil on your Xtreme Lashes. For best results, ask about the aftercare products offered by Xtreme Lashes. You will also receive instructions on how to care for them.

frequently asked questions

Microblading

Q: What is the difference between microblading and standard body tattooing?
A: The purpose of microblading is to enhance the features with what appears to be undetected, natural looking eyebrows. Microblading is more subtle – it is meant to be a natural-looking enhancement. Traditional body tattoos use electric tools and ink while microblading procedures involve pigments and a manual hand held tool.

Q: Does it hurt?
A: Everyone has a different level of sensitivity. An anesthetic is applied for numbing during most of the procedure to alleviate discomfort.
PLEASE NOTE: Dehydration, Fibromyalgia, or during menstrual cycle may increase discomfort and sensitivity during your procedure.

Q: How long is the healing process?
A: It is normal to experience minimal swelling and tenderness following your procedure, but should dissipate. Immediately following your treatment, the pigment will appear darker than how it will appear once it has healed. Around week 2, the surface color naturally exfoliates to leave a softer color. During week 3 & 4 when the skin completes healing, you will see the pigment darken a bit. A Touch-Up visit approximately 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment is necessary in order to achieve that richness of color and density in the shape.

Q: How long does microblading last?
A: Microblading is a cosmetic tattoo. The pigment will fade over time and we recommend to get a touch up annually to keep them looking their best. Typically, it can last about a year, but it could also last 6 months to 2 years. There is no guarantee in how long it lasts as each individual's skin will respond differently.
Frequency of touch-ups depends on a number of factors including: skin type, pigment selection, lifestyle (sun exposure), iron deficiency (your body absorbs iron-oxide as a supplement), chemical peels, etc.
Please note that final results can not be guaranteed as each unique skin type will hold pigments differently and break down at different rates. We will re-evaluate how your skin has received the pigment at your touch-up appointment and make any changes necessary.

Q: How many treatments are needed?
A: For microblading, at least two appointments are needed initially, at least 6-8 weeks apart. At the second treatment, we will assess the color retention and make adjustments as necessary. Everyone heals differently and at different rates. If your cosmetic tattoo does not heal perfectly the first time, do not worry! We can always go bolder and add more density at your next appointment.

Q: What factors will affect microblading?
A: Sun exposure: The sun will extremely soften the look of your tattoo or make it heal gray, so a physical sunscreen should be used (once healed) to prolong your enhancement.
The regeneration of skin cells: The longer the regeneration takes, the longer the pigment holds.
The speed at which the skin absorbs the pigment: The slower the absorption, the longer the pigment will hold.
The choice of pigment color: Some colors may fade quicker than others, e.g. a blonde pigment may fade quicker than a dark brunette pigment.
Bleeding during the procedure: Any bleeding during the tattooing procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Caffeine, alcohol, and certain medications act as blood-thinners and should avoided 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Q: What should I do before my eyebrow procedure?
A: If you regularly get your eyebrows shaped, waxed, threaded or tinted, please refrain from doing so within a week of your appointment. If there are any stray hairs that fall outside of our final shape, we can remove them.
If you plan to go on a vacation, it is recommended to plan your trip a minimum of 30 days after the procedure.
We require our clients to avoid any blood thinning medication for a minimum of 72 hours prior to their appointment. This includes Vitamin E, Aspirin, Niacin, fish oil supplements, and Ibuprofen.
Do NOT drink any alcohol or caffeine 24 hours prior to your appointment. (Yes, decaf coffee has caffeine!)
If you have been on prescription Accutane in the past, you MUST wait at least one year before considering this procedure.
It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and will forfeit your deposit. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.

Q: What should I do after the procedure?
A: You will receive an aftercare sheet after the procedure. These instructions must be followed to ensure a comfortable healing process and to achieve the best possible results. DO NOT rub or pick the healing area as the color will peel off prematurely. Avoid extreme heat, sweating, and contaminated bodies of water (such as saunas, hot tubs, steam rooms, pools, lakes, and places with hot humidity, etc.).

Q: What should I know about long term care?
A: * The color will lighten over time. We recommend an annual touch up to keep brows looking their best. Fading greatly depends on your skin type, lifestyle, sun exposure, pigment color used, broken capillaries, iron deficiency, and if any chemical peels were done after your procedure.
* If you are planning a chemical peel, MRI or other medical procedure, please inform the technician that you have had an iron-oxide cosmetic tattoo. Careful application must be taken to avoid affecting the tattooed area.
* If you are planning to have laser treatments, tell your laser specialist to avoid the pigmented area. Laser may cause pigment to turn black.

Q: How old do I have to be to get tattooed?
A: You must be 18 years or older to receive Microblading at Splash Skin Care & Extensions.

Q: Can I get tattooed if I am pregnant or nursing?
A: As a precaution, we do not perform cosmetic tattooing on pregnant or nursing women.

frequently asked questions

Hydrafacial

Q: What is Hydrafacial?
A:
Hydrafacial treatments are the latest advancement in non-laser procedures used for skin resurfacing  that uses a patent technology that  removes dead skin cells and extracts impurities while simultaneously bathing your skin with antioxidants, peptides, and hyaluronic acid . The treatment will also work to hydrate your skin, leaving it refreshed and rejuvenated. The Vortex technology that is utilized during a Hydrafacial takes this facial to a whole new level. This treatment has a 4-in-1 Vortex-Cleansing, HydroPeel Exfoliation, Vortex-Extraction, and Vortex-Fusion. Due to this innovative technique, patients are able to see immediate results without any downtime. In addition, the Vortex technology promotes overall skin health and can be used to correct and treat sun damage, uneven skin tone, hyperpigmentation, fine lines, as well as oily and dehydrated skin and enlarged pores.

Q: What can I expect during treatments?
A: Depending on the type of Hydrafacial you choose, it can take as little as 30 minutes and up to 90 minutes. The first step is a cleanse + peel. We will uncover a new layer of skin with gentle exfoliation and relaxing resurfacing. Step two involves extraction + hydration. We will remove debris from your pores with a painless suction. Then we will nourish with intense moisturizers that quench your skin. The final step is to fuse + protect. We will saturate your skin’s surface with antioxidants and peptides to maximize your glow! Lymphatic Drainage and Light Therapy are optional add-ons.

Q: Am I a candidate for Hydrafacial?
A: The HydraFacial treatment is designed for all skin types. Even the most sensitive skin easily tolerates the HydraFacial treatment. Your physician or skincare professional may choose specific treatment serums and/or customize the treatment for your unique skin conditions and needs. Consult your physician or skincare professional for a skin evaluation and sensitivity test.

Q: How long does the treatment take? Is there any downtime or pain involved?
A: Our goal is to help support you in a balanced lifestyle. That’s why HydraFacial is a fast, efficient treatment that takes as little as 30 - 90 minutes. For the first 24 hours, we suggest keeping your skin free of anything to breathe, but if you have to, you may put on makeup and return to your normal activities right after the treatment.

Q: What results may be expected? How many treatments are needed to see results? How long do the results last?
A: Many clients report seeing visible skin refinement and an even, radiant skin tone after just one treatment. The smooth results and hydration may last 5 to 7 days or even longer. We don’t believe in quick fixes, so one treatment per month is recommended for improving the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, brown spots, oily and congested skin. Continued HydraFacial treatments are highly recommended to maintain skin health results.

Q: How do I prepare for my procedure?
A: Do not wear any makeup. Come with a cleansed face. Avoid direct sun 24 hours before and after.
